Project Update | Avenue Del Mar

Just south of Santa Barbara, Sandyland Cove captures the best of California living. Known endearingly to residents as “Sandyland,” the neighborhood is a gated residential enclave in Carpinteria. Approached along a private road that crosses the Carpinteria Salt Marsh, the community enjoys a sweeping bird sanctuary, mountain views, and beachside living. Currently under construction, Matt Shaw Concrete is working on a new home in this idyllic corner of town.

The Foundation

When building a home from the ground up, we use innovative techniques unique to the local climate. Our team laid the foundation in 2020; creating a complex podium-style layout, we constructed large pillars to support the home. We worked strategically within a tailored schedule to ensure that each stage of the foundation fit together properly.

A modern twist

Board-formed concrete is used throughout the project to create a natural aesthetic with a modern twist. The material integrates seamlessly with the home’s wooden exterior and provides a timeless texture. An increasingly popular architectural finish, board-formed concrete requires meticulous craftsmanship; we incorporate it with expertise and style from the sweeping facade to the outdoor fireplace.

Home for a Lifetime

We will be returning to the jobsite to complete additional features on this stunning home. With dynamic architectural elements, projects of this size can take over a year to complete; Matt Shaw Concrete is proud to work with some of the best in the industry along the way. Whether pouring a structural foundation or finishing the meticulous details, we’re honored to create a home for our clients to enjoy for a lifetime. Stay tuned to see the final product.
